Having proposed in my books, The Giza Power Plant (1998) and GIZA: The Tesla Connection (2024), that important features related to power generation might lie beneath the Giza Pyramids in Egypt, I have been asked to comment on the recent announcement of the discovery of massive and previously undiscovered voids and constructions beneath those pyramids.

My initial impressions, based on my own research and that of the others referenced here, are that if the reported scan data and analyses are correct, this would be a major discovery and a validation of my own theories. But more importantly, provide motivation to pursue a path towards clean energy and a safer environment. The reason for that, I believe, does not come from me, but from a remarkable German physicist named Friedemann Freund.

Robert Vawter, Chris dunn and Dr. Friedmann Freund at the SETI Institute

NASA physicist, Dr. Friedemann Freund, while researching the physics behind earthquake lights (EQL), with the hopes of developing an earthquake early warning system, discovered that when igneous rock in the lithosphere is put under stress, peroxy defects in the mineral cause positive hole electrons to shoot to the surface. He was able to demonstrate during lab experiments that electrons will flow when igneous rock is put under pressure. Describing it as semiconductor physics, Dr. Freund gives an excellent explanation of his discovery during a TedX talk in Christchurch, New Zealand in this highly recommended YouTube video.

Keywords: “When stressed, rocks turn into a battery!”

I should say at the outset that Freund’s research was not even remotely inspired by the pyramids. Neither has he given any indication, in his writing or in our private conversations, that he had even considered that he may have possibly discovered the answer to solving future environment and energy production problems. I made that connection and saw his research as significant in resolving the questions and doubts about whether piezoelectricity output from stressing granite in the Great Pyramid’s King’s Chamber could be a factor in producing a significant amount of energy.

Giza - The Tesla Connection
Accoustical Science and The Harvesting of Clean Energy

The Giza Power Plant was published in August 1998 and after many years and occasional flurries of activities, new discoveries and insights, GIZA: The Tesla Connection was published in January 2024. In my 2024 book, I cite Freund’s work and he kindly gave me permission to publish the transcripts from his New Zealand presentation as an appendix. Other appendix contributors to the book were sound engineer, Robert Vawter (who discovered Freund and introduced me to him), aerospace engineer, Eric Wilson, and chemical engineer, Dr. Bret Cohen.

In both books, the fundamental question asked was, “How do we drive mechanical vibrations into the earth and through the pyramid?” After publishing my first book I heard from and met John Cadman, who had created a model of the Subterranean Chamber and used it with a system of pipes and valves to demonstrate that it could perform as a pulse generator. I visited him to witness his creation, was extremely impressed, and I give him a lot of credit for his work. However, for various reasons I discuss in my latest book I had to conclude that there must have been something else at work. The discovery of Freund, I thought, was so monumental and significant, there must have been a system in place under the Giza Plateau that served as the “big daddy” of pulse generators: (excuse the technospeak. Massive machines in industry are generally given female names, like “big Bertha”. But that’s probably not PC either, so… Sorry.)

“A complete survey of the many deep shafts and tunnels on the Giza Plateau may provide answers to the questions these speculations create, and we may learn that the progenitor of John Cadman’s hydraulic pulse generator system that caused the ground to shake lies not within the Great Pyramid, or any other pyramid for that matter, but elsewhere, and deeper underground. Created before the pyramids were built, its purpose may have been to serve all the pyramids on the plateau by squeezing electrons loose from igneous rock.

“It could be that the pulses generated in the Great Pyramid’s Subterranean Chamber are specific to just the Great Pyramid and its performance as a maser. The big daddy of pulse generators that causes the entire plateau to resonate may not be in any of the pyramids but deep under the bedrock of the Giza Plateau, functioning as Cadman’s research and model have demonstrated.” (Dunn 2024, 72)

While I did not mention this in the book, I should note here that the closer the pulse generator is located to the igneous rock, the more efficient it will be. This would require the extraction of millions of tons of sedimentary rock. This is not a task we are unfamiliar with, considering that in just one year (2023) enough coal was extracted in the USA to build a pyramid 76 times the size of the Great Pyramid.

The Scan Pyramid Mission

When in 2017, the Scan Pyramid Mission released the results of its muon detection program inside the Great Pyramid, I received many emails and texts asking my opinion on what the results mean and if they had any bearing on the theory I had published in The Giza Power Plant. While extremely interested in this research, I generally answered that I did not have a theory about what this cavity was for. However, shortly after the results were published, and my responses had been made, I received a call from a research associate, Eric Wilson, who told me that he believes he knows what that feature was for and why it was placed above the Grand Gallery and near the King’s Chamber North Shaft.

Referring to my book, The Giza Power Plant, Eric said that he had reservations about the theory that the Great Pyramid was a MASER because there was one necessary internal structure that was missing. In order for the MASER to work, he said, it needed a pre-amplifier to boost the hydrogen microwave signal before it entered the King’s Chamber. The Big Void, he said, was in the right place to serve that role, if the cavity contained quartz crystals and there was an electrical connection to the King’s Chamber North Shaft. Research into the complete details of this void is ongoing.

The SAR Scan

The 8 cylindrical structures identified in our tomographic images appear as vertical wells,
hollow inside, surrounded by descending spiral pathways.

Considering the level of science, knowledge and experience of those involved in the Scan Pyramid Mission, I am not qualified to judge any of their findings. Similarly, I am not qualified to judge the findings of the SAR Scanning team. However, I would love to know how the geometrically accurate CAD drawings were extracted out of the raw data, because they seem to represent a massive Tesla-like electromagnetic “earthquake machine.” But even without the CAD, I believe there is enough in the scans to warrant further investigation.

I would like to attach a caveat to my enthusiasm for the work of the SAR research team’s work and imagination it has sparked. That is we must keep in mind that considering what I wrote in my book, my confirmation bias may be working overtime and there should always be a healthy amount of Cartesian skepticism when anything that seems so firmly embedded in the realm of science fiction is attached to ancient monuments.

We are living in exciting times. If it turns out to be fictional, it’s a more compelling and interesting fiction than the pyramids as tombs theory we have been taught. If it is proven to be fact, we could be on the threshold of a bright and harmonious future. In 1902, Charles Holland Duell, who served as the United States Commissioner of Patents from 1898 to 1901, said, “In my opinion, all previous advances in the various lines of invention will appear totally insignificant when compared with those which the present century will witness. I almost wish that I might live my life over again to see the wonders which are at the threshold.”

The pyramids are mystical and magical. They have inspired generations of travelers and deeply affected visitors who have had the privilege of gaining entry to them – myself included. And I am reminded of Arthur C. Clarke’s famous words: “Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.”
